Same old, Same old.

So you know when you want to start doing something again, but you just keep putting it off and putting it off? That’s been me…for the past 8 months. Forgive me. So much has happened in the past few months that I’m excited to share with those of you who have stuck around. Hi, Mom.

Since I’m typically an all-or-nothing type of gal, my first instinct was to commit to writing a post every day. Craziness, I know. Here’s my attempt at some moderation. I’m going to TRY to check-in once a week. We’ll see how this goes.

Current weight: 172.8
Loss: + 0.2
Total: – 6.2

The past few weeks have been a learning experience for me, and I’m still trying to figure out my eating. I’m not disappointed that I’ve gained because losing weight isn’t a short-term goal for me. I’m doing this for the rest of my life, so a couple of less than stellar weeks isn’t a big deal.

Throwback Thursday: Turkey Trot Edition

Since I told you about the races that I’ll be participating in this year, it seemed only right to throw it back to a race from last year. In true Kristian fashion, I forgot to share it when it actually happened. Oh well.

I’ve always heard about races that happen on Thanksgiving, but I had never given a thought to doing one. Thanksgiving is obviously about the food, and I had no intention of interrupting stuff-my-face time with exercise of all things. More importantly, if past years are any indication, I would freeze my ass off. Thank you, Indiana. I don’t know what got into me, but Potter and I decided to give it a try last year!

 I was pretty nervous. It wasn’t my first race, but I hadn’t run in probably over a month at that point. Oops. It was also really cold. No surprise there.


IMG_3142I ended up running the entire race! I felt seriously awesome, and the holiday was so much more enjoyable because of it. I think this will be a yearly thing now!

Weigh In Wednesday 3.4.15

This week was a little different. I wasn’t home on the morning of my normal weigh in day, so I went ahead and weighed in the day before. I should be back on my normal schedule, so next week’s update should be more accurate.

Previous weight: 172.2
Current weight: 172.6
Loss: + 0.4
Total: – 6.4

I’m not disappointed in that number at all. I didn’t expect to lose a lot of weight immediately with the new way I’m eating, but I’m looking forward to it coming off slowly but surely.

Upcoming Races 2015

Since it’s (hopefully) going to start warming up here in Indiana, I thought I’d share the races that I’ve signed up for already this year.

Coming up pretty soon, I have the Shamrock Shuffle 5K.

I’m really looking forward to this one because it’s back at Ball State (chirp, chirp!), and I’ll be running it with Potter and both of my brothers. Plus, I get a free beer at Scotty’s after the race. Um, yes please.

Next, I have the Muncie Mini Marathon 10K in September.

I’m really excited about this one too because this is where I ran my first 5K. Instead of doing another 5K, I’ll be doing the 10K. I was disappointed in how I did during my first 10k last fall, so my goal is to improve for this one!
