Five on Friday 3.4.16

Joining in with April, Christina, Natasha, and Darci for Five on Friday today!

ONE

Since I officially booked our engagement pictures with Tessa (so excited!), it’s time to get serious about a wedding budget. I am typically a spreadsheet type of gal, but this option is just so much prettier…also, a little overwhelming.

TWO

I may be late to this train, but I have absolutely fallen in love with Biscoff cookie spread. Please tell me you’ve tried it. If not, you’re missing out. Although I’d love to just scoop some out and eat it, it’s not nearly as satisfying as using it as a topping. Same cookie taste, more food. I’ve used it on top of protein pancakes, popcorn, and in yogurt. My favorite combo is definitely the yogurt though. Holy goodness, and it’s only 170 calories (5.5f, 17.5c, 12.5p). Perfection.

THREE

On repeat this week: Aloe Blacc. Seriously, check him out. My current favorite is “I Need a Dollar” from his Good Things album. That will probably change tomorrow though. He’s just that good!

FOUR

Pacers

Since March has arrived, I’m beginning to feel the craziness that is March Madness. Personally, I am not a college sports fan. Pacers all the way, baby.

FIVE
I’m still chugging along with IIFYM. Check out this post if you’re wondering what the heck that means. I do catch myself wanting to check the scale every single day because I’m just so excited to see what has changed! I’ve only weighed myself three times since last Friday. That’s not too bad, right? Better than every day. Progress people.I have resisted checking my measurements (except for once – and I only measured my stomach – so it doesn’t count), and I’m going to continue waiting until it’s been two weeks since starting IIFYM per Poppy Locks’ suggestion.

Have a great weekend!

Five on Friday 2.26.16

Joining in with April, Christina, Natasha, and Darci for Five on Friday today. It’s been awhile, but I’m excited to start back up again!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

ONE

Pacers Game 2.24.16On Wednesday afternoon, Potter told me that he had won a raffle at work that morning, so we were able to go to the Pacers game that morning for free! That was certainly a nice surprise. I love the Pacers, so I was super excited. I was even more excited when I found out that we were in the 13th row (!), and they were playing the Evil Knicks. Even better, we won!

TWO

Grizwald

Snuggling with Mr. Grizwald here is one of my favorite forms of stress relief. He’s a super weird dog but oh so entertaining.

THREE

Speaking of stress relief, I’ve been trying to incorporate more yoga into my life. One of my goals for this year was to get crow pose down. I should probably start working more on that since it’s almost march!

FOUR

Comparison

In case you missed it, I wrote last week about how I compare myself to others, especially when it comes to my school life. If you’re struggling with this, you are not alone.

FIVE

Caffeine addict

I have my pathophysiology midterm next Tuesday, so I’ll be living at the library or Starbucks until then. I’m thinking about gifting myself with this mug as a reward for taking the exam – not even getting a good grade, just getting through it. C’s get degrees after all. Just kidding, kind of.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Five on Friday 2.6.15

I am so excited to be linking up with April, Christina, Natasha, and Darci for Five on Friday!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Thank goodness it’s Friday. I’m pretty sure I say that every week, but it’s also true every week. Hallelujah for the weekend.

Five on Friday 1I had the weirdest conversation with one of my kids yesterday. I actually had to say “You really shouldn’t swallow other people’s spit.” Never thought those words would come out of my mouth. Gotta love the endless entertainment though.

Five on Friday 2

I just finished Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury as part of my 2015 Reading List (stay tuned for that post), and I was completely unimpressed. Call me uncultured, but this is supposed to be an example of classic modern literature? Ick. Give me a book by Nora Roberts any day. Although the concept was interesting, I hate the writing style. Way too flowery for me. I’m also not big on the symbolism. Sometimes a tree is just a tree! Anybody else feel that way?

Five on Friday 3

2015 GoalsComing up next week, I’ll be sharing some of my goals for 2015. I know, I know. It’s February. I’d like to think that if I’m just getting around to sharing them, that must mean I’m actually sticking with them. Here’s a hint: 1500 miles. Intrigued?

Five on Friday 4

Thursday nights just keep getting better and better.

Five on Friday 5

Is anybody else super excited for the return of Walking Dead on Sunday? I am, I am! The end of the mid-season finale was heartbreaking, so I’m even more excited than usual to see what happens.

Happy Friday!

Five on Friday 1.16.15

I am so excited to be linking up with April, Christina, Natasha, and Darci for Five on Friday!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Five on Friday 1So it’s taken me longer than I would have liked, but I’m finally working on the final Lord of the Rings book. I actually watched all of the movies before reading the books, which is so unlike me, but I’m pretty impressed with how the movies seemed to stay close to the books. Granted, it’s been quite some time since I have sat down and watched all of the films, but I’m looking forward to doing so again after I finish this book.

Five on Friday 2Is anyone else ridiculously excited that Friends is now on Netflix? Even though I own all ten seasons on DVD, it’s so much more fun to watch them instantly. I’m not ashamed to say that I’m almost done with the first season. It’s the PERFECT show!

Five on Friday 3If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I got the best. email. ever. this week.

Five on Friday 4Look for a post on my yearly goals coming up next week! Yes, I’m aware that it’s halfway through the first month of the year already. I like to gather my thoughts, ok?

2015 Goals

Five on Friday 5I’m super excited for my plans this weekend. I get to attend my cousin’s baby shower! Family, food, and cute baby things? You can’t get much better!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Happy Friday!

Five on Friday 10.03.14

I am so excited to be linking up with April, Christina, Natasha, and Darci for Five on Friday!

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Since the link up is coming back from its summer hiatus, I thought it only appropriate to focus on what I’m loving about fall so far. Also, Indiana is finally cooperating and giving me fall-like weather instead of the heat and humidity that we’ve been dealing with (again) for the past few days. I’m even drinking hot apple cider as I write this. What can I say, I have fall on the brain. Can you blame me?

Five on Friday 1I recently discovered Sally’s Baking Addiction after finding her recipe for white chocolate pumpkin snickerdoodles. My life is forever changed. Pumpkin? Whit e Chocolate? Rolled in sugar? Sign me up! Please try the recipe. Pretty please. The best part is that the recipe doesn’t require very much pumpkin at all, so I’m searching for some recipes to use the rest of it up. Here are some possibilities so far.

Five on Friday 2

Sweaters are one of my absolute favorite things in the whole world. A large, comfy sweater? Even better. I’m loving this one from Kiki La Rue. (Side note – I’ve never shopped KLR, but I’ve heard it’s fantastic – opinions?)

Five on Friday 3It’s the first full weekend in October, which means it’s Riley Days (now known as the Riley Festival) time for those of us from Greenfield, Indiana! Don’t know who James Whitcomb Riley is? That’s ok, most don’t. It’s still a fun festival. I’m so looking forward to going with my mom on Saturday, and hopefully we can find some unique things!

Five on Friday 4I’ve been saving all of my empty wine bottles lately (don’t worry, there aren’t THAT many), but I didn’t know what I was going to do with them until now.

Aren’t these the cutest? I’m not a huge candy corn fan, but these just scream FALL to me. I don’t think I can resist.

Five on Friday 5Could not be more true.

Five on Friday: Graduation 2014 Edition

Linking up for Five on Friday today with some graduation goodies!

My little bitty brothers aren’t so little anymore because they graduated from high school last weekend! Here are some of my favorites from commencement and their open house. Also, apologies for the few and crappyish pictures I do have from the open house. I

These are personalized M&Ms that we had at their open house. They read, “Congrats Jacob,” “Congrats Logan,” and “GC 2014.” In case you’re wondering, they are just as delicious as regular M&Ms. Just saying.

Five on Friday - 3IMG_2344-1

Of course, we had to use the M&Ms as festive additions to the cupcakes we had instead of cake. Yes, these are the dreaded cupcakes, and they were even more delicious than I remembered. I highly recommend using Marsh for your baking needs. The cupcakes are fantastic, and they can do a whipped cream icing (pictured here) instead of regular icing. So so good.

Five on Friday - 4

IMG_2345-1This is the best and easiest punch recipe ever.

1 gallon blue Hawaiian punch
1 liter Sprite
Pineapple juice to taste
Rainbow sherbet

It doesn’t get much easier than that.

Five on Friday - 5

IMG_2346-1By far, I think these were my favorite part of the open house. We used goldfish as every centerpiece, and it turned out way better than I imagined. Their school colors are blue and gold, get it? If you’re wanting to do this for your next shindig, I have a couple of suggestions for you.

First, pay attention to the fish before and during the party. Goldfish don’t exactly have the longest lifespans. RIP little buddies.

Second, remember that the fish don’t just disappear along with your guests. You may end up like this.

IMG_2348-1Yes, we have 19 goldfish now.

I’m allowed to keep three of them in this tank that we already have. The problem is deciding which ones to keep and which ones to…send to the ocean in the sky.

Five on Friday: Goals Edition

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Linking up for another edition of Five on Friday today with April, Christina, Natasha, and Darci!

It’s a short and sweet one today. Since I’ve officially moved back home, I’ve already started sliding back into terrible habits. It’s just too easy. With this Five on Friday, I’m going to share the five weight-related goals that I’ve set for myself. Maybe it will help me remember exactly what I need to accomplish. I know, I know, the scale isn’t everything.

Scale isn't everything

I can’t help but use it as a major measuring stick of my progress though. With that being said, here they are!

Five on Friday - 1

164 lbs!

This is the 15-pound mark from my starting weight of 179.

Five on Friday - 2

155 lbs!

This is the weight that is listed on my license. Come on, you know you do it.

Five on Friday - 3

149 lbs!

This is the 30-pound mark from my starting weight of 179.

Five on Friday - 4

134 lbs!

This is the 45-pound mark from my starting weight of 179.

Five on Friday - 5

129 lbs!

This is my ultimate goal weight and the 50-pound mark from my starting weight of 179. This is also my lowest weight from when I lost weight the first time around.

Happy Friday!

Five on Friday: Elephant Edition

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Linking up for another edition of Five on Friday today with April, Christina, Natasha, and Darci!

This Five on Friday is going to be a little different from my usual Funnies. Since spring has officially sprung here in good ol’ Indiana, I’m in the mood to shop…but not just for any old thing. I, of course, have to have a theme. Life is better with organization. And lists. Don’t get me started. Basically, this post is feeding my type-a personality, and I’m loving it.

I love elephants. I do. They’re cute and smart and amazing. I would go to the zoo and only look at the elephants if I could. When I visited the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago a few years ago, there weren’t any elephants. I’m still not over it.

Here are some of the best elephant-themed items that I’ve found lately!

Five on Friday - 1

I need this bookend in my life. Elephants and color and books…you thought I was going to say “oh my!” I didn’t. You’re welcome, mom.

Five on Friday - 2

I love lamp.

I hate that movie, but I couldn’t resist.

I do love this lamp though. I’m usually not a fan of a lot of white, but the blue totally makes up for it.

Five on Friday - 3

These sunglasses are amazing. Too bad I don’t have 60 bucks to spend on them. Thanks a lot, Anthropologie.

Five on Friday - 4

I can’t even say anything about this shirt from Shop Orange Boutique because it’s just too cute. I want.

Five on Friday - 5

Elephant Phone Case Collage

via // via // via // via

I’ve never shopped on Etsy before. I know, I know, I’m a little behind. I definitely may start though. These are the phone cases that screamed my name, and I have no idea how I would choose! I do know one thing though. I like chevron and the color blue way more than I thought I did.

What are you loving this week?

Happy Friday!
